Virtual Death Cafés

Death is uncomfortable and we live in a death and grief-illiterate society. Many of us are unprepared to talk about and experience these normal human journeys. There is no getting around it—no shortcut, magic pill, or mystical secret that dispels the complexities. That’s why we’ve created a space where we all can gather for an open discussion—to have a place we can truly just sit and be present with one another through the discomfort.

These FREE Death Cafés are a group-directed discussion of death with NO agenda, objectives, or themes. It is a discussion group, rather than a grief-group and are designed to be a safe place to talk about emotions as well as spiritual and physical experiences.

We all bear witness to death every day of our lives. It’s time to normalize and find strength in these experiences. These are an accessible, respectful, and confidential space with no intention to lead anyone to any particular conclusion, product, or course of action.

My death cafe can be a safe place to talk about how experiencing and witnessing death feels in our own body and mind. All gatherings are a cosmic gift to you or by donation to me... you decide! Should you feel called you may donate here:

Die Into Ecstasy is a guided meditation to experience the death of your body and mind. This practice is based in Buddhist tradition and is similar to yoga nidra. A sound bath will fill our senses and reconstitute our vision. You will have the opportunity to consciously re-inhabit your body, through somatic awakening and gentle body movements, in full appreciation of the temple that it is. These practices bring us closer to what we’re doing on earth - we’re visitors here for a brief flicker of time. We’re given incredible opportunities to explore and yet we often forget how much there is we can explore and how far we can expand ! Let's gather to remember together. By reminding ourselves of our death we can more fully appreciate our bodies, and thus more fully expand into our limitless potential. Death meditation helps us to remember our power and the precious value of life. Join us for a night of exploration and remembrance.

Wear comfortable, warm clothing, and bring a yoga mat, blanket and journal for reflections.

Living Funeral Ceremonies

The Living Funeral Ceremony is a two to three-hour guided meditation and memorial created to give participants a meaningful and transformative experience. We believe that death should be celebrated rather than feared, and this intensely personal and potentially challenging session offers a mindful way to confront your own mortality while gaining acceptance and understanding of your life as a whole.

A Living Funeral Experience, sometimes referred to as a mock funeral, includes a writing exercise and guided meditation designed to give participants a fresh outlook on life after confronting their own mortality. We want to walk you through the full process of the transition—mental, physical, spiritual, and practical.

These services provide a unique way to understand and appreciate life. Originating in Seoul, South Korea, a living funeral can bring comfort and clarity to the dying as well as closure and perspective for the living.

Today, thousands of South Koreans have chosen this approach as part of a national employer-provided motivational program. In Thailand, living funerals are seen from the lens of rebirth, so much so that they’re used in addiction treatment programs to encourage attendees to let go of one life and begin another.

In the United States, living funeral services are open to the public and limited to 12-15 participants. Private Living Funeral Ceremonies are also available for one to four people.

Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably and bring a water bottle, as the ceremony will take place from a seated position on the ground with blanketed padding. Chairs may be provided on request.

Living funeral services are also available virtually.

After meeting to discuss how you can get the most from this profound experience, we will instruct you on how to set up a private space for a deep dive into your life and simulated death. Unlike public ceremonies, private, virtual ceremonies are customized for each person. This experience also includes a 30-minute post-ceremony follow-up.
